POLAND’S POLICY TOWARDS SUB-SAHARAN AFRICA AT THE PRESENT STAGE

The article analyzes the origins and current state of the policy of the Republic of Poland towards sub-Saharan Africa. Although the separate contacts between Poland and the Poles with the African peoples have a long history, Warsaw’s own policy in the region began to develop recently. The characteristic features of this policy are the ignoring of the problems of security and the emphasis on economic diplomacy with the potential partners. With the number of partner countries of Poland in Africa being small so far, there are reasons to believe that in the medium term, Warsaw will expand its presence in South and East Africa. Constraining factor for the development of Polish-African relations is the formation of a political agenda for the joint cooperation.

Keywords: Poland, Africa, «the Polish presence», economic diplomacy.
