HISTORICAL AND TOPOGRAPHIC MODELING OF THE FIRST SIEGE
OF THE ALBAZINSKY PRISON IN 1685. I

This work opens a series of articles, and is its first part, describing the first siege of the state Albazinsky prison that took place in June 1685. Although the siege itself did not last long in terms of duration, the available data from this event significantly allow us to expand the boundaries of historical research. The paper examines the key architectural objects that form the scene of such a famous historical event. Of particular importance is the presented algorithm of actions, which consists in collecting fragmented and often contradictory historical information about the object under study, systematizing it and embodying it in the form of a ready-made three-dimensional replication or other object required within the framework of the task. The primary issue in this study remains the question of finding the location of the riverbed «Melnichnaya», indicated in an engraving by N. Witsen compiled in 1687. In turn, the comparison of this engraving with a modern topographic map of the area under study makes it possible to clarify this issue. The key feature of the presented research is the active use of three-dimensional modeling technologies, as well as geoinformation systems, which allows us to take a fresh look at the historical events of the heroic confrontation between the Russian pioneers and the many times superior enemy.
