FISHING AND NOMADIC CYCLE OF THE NOTHERN SELKUP
The study proves the dominant importance of fisheries among the economic activities of the northern Selkup and the dependence on it of the Selkup economic cycle. Turning to the events of the Soviet and post-Soviet history, the author reveals the influence of the state policy of different historical epochs on the Selkup traditional fishery and the traditional economic cycle. During the period of collectivization on the basis of traditional fisheries and in conjunction with the notions of the Selkups, an industrial fishing branch was created, which all subsequent historical stages, including the modern one, on the one hand, made changes to the Selkup fishing tradition and the original nomadic economic cycle, on the other, served as a guarantor preserve the tradition of Selkup life. The dependence of the Selkup business cycle on fisheries revealed by the author allowed to clarify the question of the traditional and modern number of nomadic camps of the Selkup. The scientific novelty of the work and its relevance lies in the fact that from this angle no one has yet considered the Selkup economic cycle.
