RUSSIAN-TOULON NAVAL COOPERATION IN THE SECOND HALF OF XIXth – BEGINNING OF XXth CENTURY

The article studies the history of the Russian-French naval Union of the second half of XIXth — beginning of XXth century on the example of interaction of the Russian Maritime Ministry and the Naval staff with the military base of the French fleet in Toulon. Howerer the documentary registration of this partnership was expressed only in 1912. Such practical aspects of bilateral cooperation between the two countries as the implementation of the shipbuilding program of Russia in Toulon, visits of the squadrons of 1891 and 1893, the lease of the Russian sailors of the naval base in Bizerte and participation in the military maneuvers of the French fleet are considered. It is concluded that the various forms of Russian-French partnership were important for the development and strengthening of inter-state relations in the economic and military-technical sphere.
