The article is devoted to the study of the political formation of the first in the history of Great Britain Prime Minister Robert Walpole. The factors that influence the choice of the political path of the future statesman are considered. Particular attention is paid to the role of religion, the socio-economic situation and the political situation in England at the turn of the XVII-XVIII centuries. at the beginning of the career of a young parliamentarian.
