MAIN STAGES OF DEVELOPMENT OF CHARITY OF THE RUSSIAN
ORTHODOX CHURCH (X CENTURY – 1920s.)
The article studies main stages of development of Church charity in the period X V. – 1920s, the Chronological scope of the study due to the emergence of the phenomenon of Church charity in the X century and its legislative prohibition of the Soviet power in the 1920s, the Purpose of this article is to study the development of Church charity from the tenth century to the 1920s To achieve this goal during the work on this article we posed the following research objectives: to identify the main stages in the development of Church charity; to analyze the relationship between the state and the ROC on charity. In the course of the study, some results were obtained: it was possible to identify five stages of development of Church charity – pre-Mongolian, Mongolian, post-Mongol («Royal»), Imperial and Soviet. In most stages, the practice of Church charity has always been closely connected with the state. However, after the revolution of 1917, the Soviet state began to struggle with Church charity, which basically ended by the early 1920s.
