REFLECTION IN THE BRITISH PRESS OF THE 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE GREAT WAR MEMORIAL DAY

This article examines articles and publications by some of the most popular representatives of the British press dedicated to the celebration of Great War Remembrance Day in the anniversary year 2018. This year, Great Britain, like the whole world, celebrated the 100th anniversary of the holiday, which made this event even more significant and valuable from a historical point of view. The article examines the most prominent press publications related to the holiday, examines in detail the topics and content of published articles, all of them are divided into groups depending on the purpose of writing and content. The context in which the publications were written with the general social, civil and political situation in the country is analyzed. Support by the media of the idea of a national idea and the collective memory of residents, the importance of preserving this memory and passing it on to a new generation, for whom the published articles are mostly intended. It analyzes what events, carried out both by the state and various social movements influence the commemoration of the memory of British citizens. It was found out what influence newspaper articles have on the formation and consolidation of the memory of the Great War.
